Car Export

PROCEDURES TO EXPORT YOUR CAR OUT OF KUWAIT

The following notes have been prepared by HM Consul for the guidance of British nationals residing in Kuwait. Whilst every care has been taken in preparing the notes, local procedures can change at short notice and may vary in implementation. No legal liability for their contents is taken by HM Consul or HM Government.

********
1. Go to an insurance company and they will give you a car export form for KD 5.00.

2. Go to your respective traffic department and inform them that you wish to export your car. They will supply you with the necessary forms for a KD 15.00 fee.

3. You then proceed to the General Traffic Department in Shuwaikh to buy a  KD 5.00 revenue stamp.

4. Proceed to Jahra “scrapyard” where they will check your car’s window frame number against the documents from the insurance company.

5. You then go back to your respective traffic department where they will remove the Kuwaiti number-plates and exchange them for green export plates. (Please note that you then have only48 hours in which to exit Kuwait).

6. Finally, you have to proceed to the Kuwaiti Customs Clearance Department in Sulaibia (road 604) and get the car frame checked against the chassis and apply for an Export Manifest and other paper work. Approximate fees KD 10.

7. It is advisable to enquire, at an early stage, whether your country of destination charges custom duty at the border crossing point.

P.S. All above mentioned fees are subject to change without prior notice.
