Death registration

The death of a British national should be immediately reported to the British Embassy by calling 2259 4330 or 9901 2236.

There are a number of steps which should be followed in order to register a death of a British citizen abroad (Word doc, 29KB, new window) and to obtain a British death certificate. Replacement certificates

• Replacement birth and death certificates (UK and overseas) may be ordered using GRO’s (General Register Office) online service.
• Please note that copies of the current year's overseas register entries can only be applied for at post as details of entries are forwarded to the GRO at the end of each year.
