HH The Amir of the State of Kuwait visits Buckingham Palace
HH the Amir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah was guest of Her Majesty the Queen at a lunch at Buckingham Palace, and then met the Prime Minister at No 10 Downing Street. He also had meetings with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir Menzies Campbell, and Mr William Hague. His Highness was accompanied by a delegation headed by HE Sheikh Mishal al-Sabah (Deputy Commander of the National Guard) and including 6 Ministers – a potent symbol of the importance which Kuwait attached to its relationship with the UK. These Ministers had separate meetings with their British opposite numbers, also strengthening the personal friendships which exist between our two Governments and peoples. Sir Michael Savory, deputising for the Lord Mayor of London, gave a lunch for the Minister of Finance in the Mansion House – an occasion attended by other ministers and by top managers of the Kuwait Investment Authority.
